 Family:  Pomacanthidae (Angelfishes)
 Max. size:  30 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  reef-associated; depth range 10 - 100 m, non-migratory
 Distribution:  Pacific Ocean: Indo-Malayan region eastward to the Line Islands.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 14-14; Dorsal soft rays (total): 18-18; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 18-18. Description: Body grey, dorsal horizontal band white (extending to caudal peduncle), black diffuse oblique band from mid-dorsal to anal fin; eye bar black; forehead spot black large; lateral spots golden.; dorsal fin black Body depth 1.6-1.8 in SL. Scales longitudinal series 38-47 (Ref. 90102).
 Biology:  Found in outer reef slopes and steep drop-offs. Solitary or in pairs or small groups; uncommon to rare (Ref. 9710). Feeds on sponges and tunicates. Rarely exported through the aquarium trade (Ref. 48391).
