 Family:  Cichlidae (Cichlids), subfamily: Cichlasomatinae
 Max. size:  20 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  benthopelagic; pH range: 6.5 - 8; dH range: 25
 Distribution:  South America: Pacific slope from the Esmeraldas River in Ecuador to the Tumbes River in Peru.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  In small and larger coastal streams (Ref. 6329). Females care for the eggs and larvae while males defend the territory (Ref. 40602).
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
