Remarks Tolerant of low salinities in estuaries. Juveniles and adults show clear north-south migrations in the Gabon-Angola sector of their range and also in the Mauritania-Sierra Leone sector, each having nurseries; the movements are correlated with the seasonal upwelling. Migrations in the central part (Côte d'Ivoire-Ghana) are not so marked.
