Remarks Found curled in depressions next to rubble at 500-630 m; individuals actively swimming over the bottom possibly using their pelvic fins to detect prey. Exhibit depth and temperature preference. Larger fish collected at greater depths, and there appears to be a bathymetric segregation between small demersal juveniles and adults, typical of gadids (Ref. 86779). Epibenthic (Ref. 58426). Most abundant between 360 and 800 m. Feeds mostly on crustaceans but also on mollusks and fishes (Ref. 1371).
