Remarks Occurs mainly over shallow muddy and sandy bottoms of the continental shelf, occasionally entering rivers. Reported to not occur in brackish water (Ref. 9987). Mainly occurs near estuaries (Ref. 57343). Young feeds mainly on small benthic crustaceans, especially prawns and crabs, and small fishes. Percentage of fishes eaten increases with size (Ref. 57343).
