Remarks Relatively small, it measures less than 3 cm in length. Occurs in headwaters and also in the lower reaches of rivers. Its food depends on the biotope in which it is found, but it feeds mainly on arthropods. It prefers larvae of aquatic insects like Trichoptera, Chironomidae & Ephemroptera and ants, which are found on the river vegetation or those which fall into the water (Ref. 12225).
