Comments: Type locality, Uling brook, Naga River, Cebu, ASIZP-057825 (holotype of Sicyopus cebuensis, 3.75 cm SL, male) (Ref. 44834, 87905). Also Ref. 94476. Endemic status computed from FishBase data (country records, occurrences records in literature and in point data) on 16/07/08.

Short description

Dorsal spines (total): 7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 10. First dorsal fin of males elongated. Ctenoid scales loosely arranged on anterior part of the body; naked on head, full nape to around first dorsal fin base, pectoral fin base, and entire belly. Coloration specific in male, body with a large transverse blotch of grayish violet in the middle; creamy yellow anteriorly, and shiny red orange posteriorly (Ref. 44834).
