Distribution: Western Atlantic: northeastern Gulf of Mexico off Florida, Gulf of Campeche, Panama, Colombia, and off French Guiana. Had been originally termed Apristurus indicus by Springer (1966) but apparently not conspecific with the Indian Ocean species.
