Remarks Refers to the anadromous form, i.e., large silvery fish returning from the sea with the back, top of head and upper sides in steel-blue, blue-green, yellow-green to almost brown color (p. 185 in Ref. 1998); 'trout' from Middle English from Old English 'truht' from Low Latin 'trocta, tructa', i.e., a fish with sharp teeth, from Greek 'troktes', i.e., gnawer, from 'trogein', i.e., to gnaw (p. 1266 in Ref. 11978).
