Description of culture system |
Ponds were initially applied with chicken dung at 2 tonnes/ha and inorganic fertilizer (16-20-0 NPK) at 50 kg/ha for lablab growth. 16-20-0 was applied at 25 kg/ha every 2 weeks, thereafter. Water level was maintained at 60 cm. |

Description of Nutrient input |
No supplementary food was given. The fish were dependent on the production of natural food in the pond. Stomach analysis showed the fish fed on diatoms, bluegreen algae, filamentous algae and some zooplankton. |
